Abstract

In the last ten years, studies relating automobile accidents to lighting criteria, such as pavement luminance, horizontal lux, and uniformity, have indicated ambiguous. Results. At the same time, the interest in the visibility of targets has increased together with the ability to calculate and predict their visibility under various conditions. It has been found that increasing average pavement luminance may either increase or decrease average target visibility depending on other factors.
