Abstract

At night the guidance and information of the driver are provided by the retroreflective road equipment namely, delineators, studs, markings and signs, lighted by the car headlights. In previous experiments carried out with observers some visibility thresholds have been determined. Assuming that the equipment has properties required by french specification, it is found that some of the tested headlamps do not provide enough light to ensure the visibility of all kinds of equipment.
