The seventh Vision in Vehicles conference was held in Marseilles in September 1997. The conference was divided into sessions and papers are presented under the headings: (1) driver's vision; (2) foveal and peripheral task performance; (3) ageing; (4) fatigue; (5) road transport informatics; (6) intelligent driver support systems; (7) visual scanning; (8) visual steering control; (8) visual steering control; (9) speed and distance perception; (10) perception of "time-to-collision"; (11) visual demand; (12) visibility and conspicuity; (13) route guidance systems.
