Abstract

It is recommended that the tests for a driver's visual ability should be regularized and standardized and held under conditions which are not variable. Learner drivers should be required to have an examination by an ophthalmologist before being issued with a provisionary licence. Applications for renewal of licences by persons over the age of 45 should be accompanied by a current certificate of satisfactory vision.
