Abstract

Safety problems identified so far and the technological possibilities of reducing them that now are emerging in vehicle industry development and general vehicle research projects based on new smart computer controlled systems, are discussed. The safety problems of heavy vehicle combinations associated with so far identified are yaw stabibility, overturning stability, steerability, braking performance, lane keeping, speed control and inter-vehicle spacing.
