Abstract

The author shares his findings on eye-movements as related to the driving task. He has not only studied experience and novice drivers but also drivers under the influence of alcohol. Dr. Rockwell, because of the uniqueness of his endeavor, has been obliged to design and build most of the equipment he uses in his experiments. His findings suggest possibilities for training the novice driver to function in ways more similar to drivers with considerable experience.
