Abstract

The object of this research was making the visual and operating behavior model for navigation system while driving and calculating the metrics about accessibility from the specifications of navigation system. Experiments of navigation system operation while stopping and driving were carried out. The visual and operating behavior was recorded to video tape, and analyzed based on operation phase model. Equations were obtained about visual and operating behavior and the model proposed for navigation system operation while driving. Using this model, many metrics (ex. total task time, total glance time) could be calculated from navigation system specification and was good approximaton of actual navigation system operations.
