Abstract

Materials and methods of application for road marking are discussed: paint, cold and hot applied thermoplastic coatings, adhesive sheets, studs and coloured bricks. Requirements, properties, uses, testing, frequency of application and costs are included. Owing to the widely varying regulations on road marking materials and methods in the various European countries more standardization is urgently needed. The literature is reviewed, and present trends are noted.
