Abstract

The findings of the exploration of the relationship between urban arterial traffic flow and the arterial's visual surrounding are reported. It is suggested that a direct relationship exists between the visual environment and the ability of the arterial to handle traffic without a high number of accidents and/or a high rate of interference to flow.
