Abstract

The role of visual inhomogeneity in the perceived pointing of equilateral triangles is investigated. An experiment was performed whose results cannot be accounted for by current hypotheses about the mechanisms that assign reference frames. These results support the view that local and not global reference frames are involved in shape perception.
