Abstract

In the last few years, a new set of communication techniques, generally referred to as visualization, has been applied to various communication problems in the transportation industry. Because the application of these techniques is still in its infancy, the use, benefits and pitfalls of visualization processes is poorly understood. The purpose of this paper is to define the issues, problems, technologies and benefits related to the application of visualization in the transportation industry. (A)
