Abstract

To get an impression of nature and amount of traffic in rural areas a traffic survey was carried out in south-west Friesland. Some results of the manual counts are presented in this article. Intensities per day show that on average 79% of all traffic takes place between 7 and 19 hrs. Counts per hour show an average peak hour percentage of 8-10% of the total daily flow, on quiet roads this varies from 9 to 12%.
