Abstract
The town of Bern has banned from the centre through traffic in 1967. Since the vast majority of cases the servicing of the shops cannot take place at the back side of the premises and underground constructions for public transport are not practicable because of the great expenses involved, pedestrians, service traffic and public transport are bound to share the available traffic area. This proves quite possible. On other places facilities are created for the pedestrian e.g by the construction of pedestrian levels.
