Abstract

This paper describes various information services based on Voice Activated Browser system, which are available while driving. Drivers can use the browser safely by voice operation while driving, and obtain information on the current location vicinity by synthesised voice. The target is to provide these services to drivers even while holding the steering wheels. To realise these services, a new description language which can construct a voice controllable human-machine interface, web browser adapted to voice operation, and a function to calculate current location have been designed. Lastly, some future systems in vehicles as applications of the Voice Activated Browser system are proposed.
