An account is given of DYNAGUIDE, a concept developed by Volvo for receiving, selecting and presenting traffic information via the RDS/TMC (Radio Data System/Traffic Message Channel). The operation of the TMC and the use of the protocol ALERT-C are outlined. DYNAGUIDE utilises symbols of various colours on a background map to indicate incidents. Details are given of the operation of the system inside the vehicle. Field trials carried out in Sweden are outlined and early results reported with regard to user-friendliness and quality of information.
