Abstract

Road pricing aimed only at reducing car driving cannot rely on much sympathy. A fast majority of Dutch car drivers reject road pricing, if its profits `disappear' in the Public Treasury. Public opinion changes, if the profits of road pricing are put back into traffic, such as improvement of public transport. (A)
