Abstract

Using data from VOR the municipality of Nijmegen did some statistical research. Some conclusions are that cycle tracks with own right of way should have their own traffic light phases at controlled intersections. Pedestrians, trucks and bicyclists/mopeds are most involved in accidents. Residential areas, built between 1945 and 1960 are most dangerous because of the unstratified road system. In newer areas accidents involving slow traffic are numerous.
