The SWOV Institute for Road Safety Research has commissioned the Dutch Research and Marketing firm to conduct two market studies. This cover note deals with two reports which describe these studies. One report is aimed at teachers who are eligible to participate in an information project on 'Alcohol and Traffic' for 15-16 year-olds. The other report is concerned with parties who are already involved in this project. These are representatives of: (1) Regional Organizations for Traffic Safety (ROVs); (2) Dutch Road Safety Organisation (VVN); (3) Clinics for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (CADs); (4) municipalities; (5) police; (6) parents' associations; and (7) the school boards. The market is explored in order to create the most favourable conditions possible for implementation of the project. Teacher involvement in the theme tends to be small. In addition, there were barriers regarding both time that can be spent on the project, and the training of social skills to students. The market potential is not great. This demands a 'strong' introduction, supported by personal contacts with experts. One of the positive points is that cooperation by CAD, ROV and VVN is assured. It will be more difficult to involve the other parties. The use of video material in aid of the project is encouraged.
