Abstract

Difficult design tasks in the reconstruction and widening of roads, as well as the demand for differentiated statements about the safety levels of individual variations in new road construction, have led in the last few years to a deficit of information in the work on road safety in road design. This deficit cannot be corrected with existing procedural methods because of methodological problems. Risk analyses appear to offer a way out of the information deficit.
