Abstract

During the last years the first generation of night-vision systems has been introduced to the market in serial car models, which basically enhancedthe driver's view of the road. The next generation will include warning capabilities for the driver. This paper summarizes the results of the publicly funded NIRWARN project in Germany. The aim of the project is to investigate and evaluate components and algorithms for a new-generation warning night-vision system. This paper presents the requirements for such a system and discusses the functional concepts involved. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
