The applicability of Tanner's formula for the calculation of vehicle delays on uncontrolled road intersections was successfully applied to an investigation of bus stoppages in Hong Kong. Experiments were simulated for both small and large buses on a number of single two lane roads, and vehicle capacities determined. A monogram is given for easy determination of whether a bus bay should be provided, given the type of bus, frequency of service average number of passengers at the stop, and average traffic densities on both lanes.
