Abstract
The article gives a summery of a number of investigations which have been carried out to determine the most suitable light source for street lighting installations. From this review of the results obtained so far it is quite evident that sodium lamps possess many advantages over other light sources, which are important for street lighting. Some of them are of a psychological and physiological nature, while others are economic or technical. The one great drawback of this lamps is their poor colour rendering.
