Abstract

This publication presents the conclusions of the SHRP-NL project as carried out over the years 1990-1995 and reflects in the consequences of these conclusions for very day practice of pavement management. The main goal of the project is to enhance the knowledge on the long term performance of flexible pavements in order to better plan and execute pavement management. To reach this goal, a well structured set of 247 test sections was selected, followed by annual measurement of the performance of those sections. The data used for analysis described in this report cover a period of three years. The analysis focused on a number of specific items, being performance models for in service pavements, the interpretation of falling weight deflectometer data for the project and network level, forecasting durability problems from material composition data, the applicability of a variety of maintenance and rehabilitation measures and the effect of construction and material variability on the long term performance of pavements.
