Abstract

Some results of a study into the experience of road traffic noise in Amsterdam are presented. The aim of the study was threefold (1) to get an insight into the relation between road traffic noise and the reactions of the human people exposed to different sound levels (2) to find an answer on the question if the experienced nuisance only comes from sounds of road traffic, and (3) to determine which unit of noise hindrance has the most predictive value for nuisance caused by road traffic in an urban area.
