Abstract

The "forest of signs" on roads is constantly being publicity criticised. With a closer problem analysis of the "forest of signs", the amount of traffic signs only proves to be one shortcoming among many other possible shortcomings. Every traffic and direction sign has its justification, its reason or its history. A sign characterises a special legal position and ensures legal protection. For this reason the removal of a sign frequently creates a new legal position the effects of which must be given consideration.
