Abstract
The central theme of the chapter is that the function of the professional driver is burdening and helds risks for safety, health and well being on account of the combination of burdening facts on which these drivers are exposed in the relationship with the stringent requirements for the task, the labour tempo and the working hours, and not an account of one specific burdening factor. Measures to improve this situation should regard to the control of the working hours as well as on the length and the irregularity of the working hours.
