Abstract

Details are given of the advanced traffic records computer system, known as pride (programmed improvement in driving through electronics) developed for west virginia. The system identifies accident locations and causes, and provides current accident data to the department of highways with a view to establishing corrective measures, identifying problem drivers, helping the police in law enforcement, monitoring the motor vehicle inspection programme and ultimately obtaining a reduction in the number of accidents.
