Abstract

The Western Cape (South Africa) provincial transport policy, although based on the "National Transport White Paper", expands certain key elements of it, in particular, the importance of considering transport and spatial policy in the context of overarching developmental policies. Its central theme is "Public Transport First", and the policy document proposes significant changes in transport and spatial policies and practices to make this a reality. (A) The French title of this paper is: "Politique des transports de la province du Cap Occidental".
