Abstract

Increases in the rate of wet-pavement accidents and the average cost of such accidents are considered. An analysis is made of the conditions leading to such accidents: demand for a coefficient of friction between tyre and pavement greater than supplied. The influence of tyre tread depth on skidding is also discussed.
