Abstract

A review of selected accident analyses and surveys of driver experience is presented to show that the problem of driver fatigue and sleep is extensive and serious. Much driving is accomplished at all hours on long, monotonous highways between urban centers. There, the problem of driving fatigue is both extensive and extremely serious.
