Abstract

Senile cataract is caused by abnormal stress that is superimposed on the normal aging of the lens of the eye. Prevention will require more knowledge of the structure and metabolism of the human lens. There is no cure, however, nor is there any prospect of one in the foreseeable future for this disease.
