Abstract

This article discussed evidence to support the use of safety helmets by cyclists. Of the 300 cyclists killed on the roads in the United Kingdom each year, approximately two thirds died as a result of head injury. The Australian experience suggested that the use of helmets could greatly reduce such deaths by had injury. Reasons why cyclists don't use safety helmets in Britain were also discussed.
