Abstract

This booklet gives advice on how to deal with whiplash, recover quickly and avoid long term pain and injury. It emphasises that serious injury is rare, that acute pain improves within a few days or weeks, that resting for more than a day or two is counterproductive, and that it is important to get the neck moving again. A positive attitude to recovery is considered especially important. A list of symptoms after an accident for which specialist attention is required is given. Methods for the control of pain are discussed. A set of exercises is provided and advice on posture and performing everyday tasks.
