Abstract

The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) has witnessed considerable growth during the 1990's. A consequence of this change has been a substantial increase in the demand for alternative modes of travel. The Whistler Way! Rideshare program fills a transportation niche that provides the residents and employees of Whistler with another viable transportation option. This is a very important notion that is outlined in the Whistler Comprehensive Transportation Strategy. It provides viable and sustainable transportation options and lets the consumer make the choice as to which works best for them at the particular trip. This project was nominated for the TAC 2001 Sustainable Urban Transportation Award. For the covering abstract of ths conference see ITRD number E211271.
