Abstract

Improvement ratio of roadways, on which dairy and social activities of local residents heavily depend, stays low in Kochi Prefecture. Besides, disasters under unusual weather including local downpours and typhoons often occur, which would cause many road traffic restrictions. It is obvious that road administrators should serve people in the prefecture with safer and comfort mobility backed with advance systems. Therefore, the central and local governments have been working together on an experiment to connect and share management information on public facilities operated by them to establish a wide-area information service system for free reference and access to data that would be required in their official duties. Shikoku Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport coupled with Kochi Prefecture would report on evaluation, issues, and future prospects of partnership between the road administrators to encourage ITS-based wide-area information in this paper.
