Abstract

This leaflet gives advice on the use of wig-wag signals and associated equipment. It also deals with the use of warning lights for cattle crossings. It does not cover warning lights at school crossing places. Wig-wag signals are used to control road traffic at level crossings, swing or lifting bridges, tunnels, airfield or in the vicinity of premises regularly used by fire, police or ambulance vehicles. The use of wig-wag signals is outlined by Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions regulations 39 and 40. The leaflet contains a number of diagrams to illustrate the mode of action of the wig-wag signals. (Author/publisher)
