Abstract

While the success of IVHS depends on user acceptance, very little is known about how users will respond to these products and services. This paper describes a program of research at the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) that will start to fill this void. Considerations in the research program are discussed, including the scope of the research, institutional issues, conceptual frameworks, and research techniques. Several research projects are planned, with most of the field research occurring in 1995. (A)
