Behaviour of a single passenger car travelling on the road in windy weather provided the data analyzed in this paper. The quantitative analysis was intended to define the effects of side-winds and gusts on the stability of cars. Highway tests were made with a car in which the body functions as a separate unit, so that forces transmitted from body to chassis could be measured. One study was made of the transient effects of a gust striking a moving car, and the other study was concerned with the reaction of the car to side-winds.
