Abstract

Results of an analytical investigation of the safety of tri-chord overhead sign support structures against wind, are presented. The study included investigation of the adequacy of the gust factor recommended by the AASHO specifications governing the design of sign support structures and the effectiveness of stock bridge dampers in reducing vortex excitation vibration.
