Abstract
Technical properties of windshields made from safety glasses well as laminated glass are evaluated. It is shown that the laminated glass windshield in most cases to be far superior to the safety glass windshield as regards the danger of injuries resulting from traffic accidents. However, in view of the increasing use of safety belts these advantages no longer represent a sound reason on which a ban on safety glass windshields could be based. The results of a cost benefit analysis are also considered.
