Abstract

The United Kingdom's (UK's) road networks have a finite capacity yet roadoperators are unable to build their way out of congestion to meet demand. This paper reports on work undertaken to map across to transport operations Network enabled Warfare (NeW) being used to better manage battlefield resources, through the networking of data from disparate sources. NeW aims to improve positive outcomes in various battle scenarios. Levering that experience into traffic operations, through Network enabled Traffic Operations (NeTO) targets road capacity utilization. While the congestion war will continue, battles can be won through joined up traffic information and traffic operations.
