Abstract

In 1999, Telecommunications Advancement Organization of Japan launched a 3-year-project named R&D on Information and Communication Technologies for ITS. Three technical themes were selected for realization at an early stage: Wireless Agent, Radio On Fiber Communication System and Wireless Multi-mode Terminal. This report summarizes research on the wireless multi-mode terminal based on three important technologies, Multi-band RF Radio, Software Defined Radio and Multi-mode Signal Processing, and describes the technical demonstration held in March 2002 at the end of the 3-year project.
