Abstract

In an other paper, J. Horowitz points out that a heuristic sequential estimation method for the within-driver gap acceptance variance parameter proposed by the author is inconsistent. This paper shows that when the mais road traffic is light (a situation where the simultaneous estimation method seems to be inefficient, there is a maximum likelihood sequential estimation process that might have better small sample properties than the simultaneous method.
