Abstract

The activities of a majour part of the working population are being focused arount the locations of home and work. Together with travel time, people spend up to 90% of the time they aare awake on these two locations or somewhere in between, every workingday. Home-work realtions there-fore are a major factor in the total time-space condition and in the shape of trip patterns. The research described in this article will be used in Amsterdam before long to draw up concepts for the so-called compact city. This wil require a condensed home-work matrix.
