Abstract
From a survey in Nijmegen it appears that the attitude of woonerf residents is mainly determined by t4hir appreciation of the residential quality, the latter mainly being interpreted in towns of how the environment looks like. This is a striking result as the overall attitude towards the woonerf: it is not primarily determined by the new traffic regime (i.e. equal rights for all road users). The opinion on traffic within the woonerf is not entirely positive, but it has little effect on the final judgement.
