Abstract

The first Road Safety Units were set up on an experimental basis in May 1963. Broad terms of reference were: the in-depth study of road accident patterns in their respective areas and the promotion, in collaboration with local authorities, of remedial measures. An example of systematic accident investigation is given and some benefit results are mentioned.
