Abstract

A lot of information providing service is used by pedestrian's intelligent transportation systems (ITS) work in the background of a rapid spread of the Internet portable-phone & personal digital assistant (PDA). There is a characteristic in the place in which it is said that mobile platform is in order as the communication service, and service by which positioning information is made a key has come out. The service development and the spread according to needs of pedestrians of the spread of mobile equipment and PDA and increases in ASP, ISP etc. will be forecast in the future. The ITS system architecture of Japan was made on November 5, 1999, and consortia which measured ITS promotion with Kansai region and Kansai ITS promotion conference (KIPA, Kansai ITS Promotion Association) were established in December, 1999. Downtown Area ITS WG by which "Pedestrian ITS" was examined here was set up, and was examined actively. The pedestrian support service of KIPA used the IT technology, supported safety, safe movement of the pedestrian, examined service, which aimed at the improvement of convenience and the pleasantness etc. The system menu of pedestrian support service was planned & described as a result at y2000. Y2001-2002 will be scheduled to plan pedestrian ITS service of Kansai region by which this result will be reflected and the system will be developed and deployed.
