Abstract

Fleet or work-related road safety benchmarking is not new, as several high profile projects have been undertaken in the UK during the past ten years. There have, however, been few published papers or events in the UK. For this reason Interactive Driving Systems , British Telecom (BT) and Brake set up a benchmarking group. Many of the participants were insured by Zurich, which led to this detailed research report being published. The report surnmarises the background, content and next steps for the work-related road safety benchmarking project, which aims to provide a useful, long term and sustainable fleet program for the UK - to allow meaningful comparisons of management processes, collision rates and costs to identify areas for improvement at the organisational and policy levels. The outputs from three benchmarking meetings are summarised, along with data from the Zurich Work-related Road Risk Audit and the Association of British Insurers. (Author/publisher)
