Abstract

Evidence is overwhelming that death and injuries due to motor vehicle accidents have reached epidemic proportions throughout the world. The overwhelming significance of human factors is acknowledged by the WHO working group, but it was appreciated that this is an area which is more complex to understand and difficult to change. Recommendations for positive and productive action in different countries are presented.
