Abstract

A safety management process has been developed for worksites on or beside roads. The proposed hierarchy of control places priority in physical protection and less reliance on behavioural controls, so far as is reasonably practicable. Where behavioural controls are necessary, this process considers pedestrian injury severity data, and the braking distances to slow errant vehicles to a low risk speed before entering a worksite.
